  • Slight engine knocks?

my question is complicated if you cant hear but...........

the sound is like when you are stalling from start up or bogging the engine due to low rpm. But Im not at bogging the engine and it even makes the sound when i shift up gears but not down. I thought it might be timing or low octane fuel.

    any ideas?

    thanks

Ever since I filled up at your shitty 91 octane gas pumps in Ed-Town -- I've been having a ***** of time with detonation. Fucking sounds like I've got sand in my engine. Can't wait for some precious 94 tomorrow afternoon!

Oh... sorry to take over your thread. The moral of this story is:

if your motor sounds tingy like... you've got detonation.

Sometimes you get bad gas. Switch to a different station and see if it goes away. Its basically up to the station to ensure quality - if they want they can put regular gas in the premium tank (by "mistake" of course) if they are out of premium or whatever.

What brand do you put? IMO ESSO gas is reliable. The old Mohawk 92 does not work out on my 30V V6. I lost quite a bit of low-end torque with the old 92.

I now use the mohawk 94 pretty much all the time and when i'm in a bind I will fill up with petro 91 only because i have a points card with them.

I pretty much alwaus go 94, if I cant then I will go to a Petro Canada. My girlfriends dad is in that industry and new gasoline ratings prove that Petro Canada's gas is among the cleanest.
