Side Intercooler Vent Install

Has anyone installed a fender well vent (like the audi TT) behind the side mount intercooler of a chipped 1.8T and if so did it provide a performance improvement?

i did on my tdi, the IC temp was about 10C lower during a long highway run, but nothing noticeable timer wise.
