Re: you guys piss me off!!

Wow.....gotta say from some of the posts you've made I would definitely not want to bring my car into your shop.

It reflects poorly on you as a shop owner, when you feel the need to ridicule your customers online. Not everyone is a car person, some people could frankly care less and see it as a way to get too and from work/school/groceries/etc. These are also the people that are generating your revenue.

Might wanna think twice before you openly bash on customers.

Re: you guys piss me off!!

I think he is just sick of people being completely brainless and care free about how they treat their vehicles. I would have to agree that nothing is more frustrating than people who don't take care of their ****. Bashing customers? Maybe if he is speaking as a shop owner and specifically naming names, otherwise, he is just a person like me or you sick of seeing people mistreat their property. I feel the exact same way. It gets pretty annoying when people think cars (or whatever) can last forever without proper maintenance and are dumbfounded when they find out its $2000 to replace that part. Some people just need to get a clue.

          Fair rant.
I too can't stand the "no fault customer attitude". Grown adults not being able to understand their responsibilities and repercussions there of. Trained professionals in all facets of life, are there because the general public cannot know everything. We learned these fundamentals in grade school.

iI agree with paul, being a service writer you get to see all of the ways people abuse thier cars and then expect warranty. to bad for them warranty does not cover STUPIDTY. 3/4 of the people that I talk to on a daily basis don't even know what an owner manual is. "hey my brakes are squealing" hmm, maybe considering you're at 40k and haven't done any of the services in which the brakes are serviced? I just want an oil change, don't rotate my tires their good, don't change my air filter, (by the way my fuel consumption is up), don't change my pollen filter (oh i have weak flow through my heater vents) brake fluid doesn't have to be changed, pfft, no way. what do you mean warranty will not cover my transmission because I didn't flush the transmission at the required intervals? blah blah blah. What do do you mean warranty will not cover my ignition switch? it's only 35 keys and a regulation sized pool ball key chain. I can't say how many times in a day I have to type "customer declined"

Re: you guys piss me off!!

People don't spend the money on maintaince because when they drive away, the car "feels" the same, but suddenly when the car "feels" different they get upset because at that point there is little choice when it comes to fixing it or not.

This is the place to vent.....

I think there should be legal ramifications if your car breaks down due to neglect. Its a safety issue, and an environmental issue to drive a poorly maintained car. The shop shouldn't be allowed to release the car after 3 timing belt warnings. If you don't care about your car, you shouldn't be allowed to operate one. And if you neglect is and it breaks, you certainly shouldn't be allowed to whine about it. I'm with VWSM on this one.

I feel for you VWSM along with working at a ford dealership, I have also worked as a bicycle mechanic and I would bet the same people who dont give a **** about their cars are the same with there bikes granted not everyone rides $6000 bikes but most people drop about a grand on a nice bike and after one good season of riding it all goes to **** because they dont perform simple maintenance. its just a state of mind i guess I work on helicopters now i dont have to worry about those problems.
