key fob troubles

  • key fob troubles

    one of my keys button won't unlock the car, also the red light on it doesn't turn on. it does all other features

    the other key works perfect. what should i do, is there a flash for the key fob??

    it's a mkv gti

    I think your battery is just dying, my key on my 2002 Jetta does the same thing when the battery is dying, it will lock and pop the trunk,but not unlock.

      u could also try putting the key in the ignition and turn it on
      then put a key in the door hold it to the lock position and hit the lock key. and do the same for the unlock function.

        And, FYI, the battery is a 2032. Big, flat watch battery. Pretty simple to do. If you've never done this before simply push the key button... grab both parts of the remote (key part end) and (keychain part end) and pull... it'll unsnap. The remote should just split in half length wise, the battery is in there.

            could also be the button, the PCB (green board) is heat staked into the plastic though, so it needs to be cut out.
            If you can feel nice clicks when the button is pressed, the switch is probably fine.

                On a related note....I tried on my spare key to pull the fob apart...no dice. Maybe I am not pulling hard enough.
