Rear Ended :(

So i was rear ended last night by some chick who wasent paying attention.

She hit me pretty hard in my gti. The deck flew out, the glove box seems broken, and i had to take my gf to the hospital with neck injuries.

The thing i dont get is is, there is like zero damage on my back bumper. Just a few scratches.

What kinds of things could there be behind the bumper that i should make sure they check out when i get a quote?

Also, my check engine light has come on. Have no clue why, i was hit from behind. Maybe something knocked lose?

Find out who are the best bodyshops in town and get a few quotes from them. Even if they find more damage after they begin fixing your car, you won't get screwed. They just add it to the bill.

Also, keep in mind that you have the right to take your car to any bodyshop you desire. Insurance companies often try to get you to go to their "approved" bodyshops.

Do not assume that VW bodyshops know VW's more than any other bodyshop. My mom found this out the hard way. Southgate VW autobody in Edmonton blows balls.....BIG ONES!

low cost in edmonton is pretty damn good, my ex had her gti Fed up pretty bad and they made it look brand new also ended up being half the price of other shops.... not that price matters in this situation

u want real good go to marenelos (spell check) they work on ferarris etc hah

milk that insurance. recently there was a cap only to $4k on personal injury like that, but right now thats not the case! some judge has reversed that rule. sky is the limit now ahahah

as to your bumper question, there is a big metal rebar that runs along the whole bumper held in place by two big ass shocks (which are supposed to cushion rear impacts a bit). thats why your bumper isn't too damaged.

About 2 hours after the accident the little light shaped like an engine block came on. I hope its nothing serious. any ideas?

CEL = check engine light

hmmmm hookup vagcom it will tell you. maybe a sensor got intermittent during the impact or something...

I know she seemed so dumb. My Gf tore a strip off her becuase she dident say sorry or anything. LOL im mine my gf is recovering slowly. She is all hoped up on T3's lol. Im in calgary and just try to stick to the good body shops. Hopefully i can find some one to scan my car tomorrow.

Maranello's is supposed to be the best there is, but I took my S4 there after being hit by some dumbass going the wrong way down the one-way ramp I was on, and I was quite disappointed in the work they did. Took FOREVER too.

imperial autobody on 17th is real good. also there is a place behind heninger toyota called SOS, they seem to do alot of vw's

Exotic Cars Internation off of Barlow is great. My dad has taken his Benzes there. The guy's name is Ernest. He specializes in high end cars (MB, BMW, Ferrari, etc) but works on anything, really.

do you have any more info on this bart? A buddy of mine got hit by a truck (on foot, not in a car) and the insurance companies are still, very slowly, battling it out. He was informed of the cap previously but I wonder what that means now?
