  • Lowered 1.5", now I need shock/struts. What should I get?

I lowered my golf 1.5" last spring. I put in Intrax springs with the stock shock/struts. It is time to get the proper shock/struts.

What would you guys recommend for my setup?

    Thanks

Could you supply these? If so, how much am I looking at for parts only?

Can you adjust your rears without taking them out? I am guessing no?

What did you set them at when you had them installed firmness wise?

                Adjustable shocks are overrated.

Your average enthusiast can't adjust them to be balanced because the adjustment controls are not consistent enough between each of the shocks. So half a "turn" on one might be the same as a quarter "turn" on another, etc. Also they are not always pre-set the same from the factory.

Specialized equipment is really needed to do it right - adjustable shocks used to be for competition cars only, largely because the owners/drivers had the time and equipment to properly balance each corner. Now, marketing has pushed this technology down to hobbyists and street cars but a huge number of people are running setups that do not have the same dampening left to right, which is ridiculous.

Yeah you need to take them out. But taking out the rear suspension on a mk4 is dead easy. I just have them set on maximum stiffness. I only adjusted the fronts once for a long road trip.

ok, I need this in simple terms.

What would be the best for the buck to achieve close to stock ride quality?
