  • Aftermarket Seats - MkII

So with my tax return on the way its time to order my new seats for the Jetta. With any OEM seats I sit with my head touching the roof (I am 6'4) unless I sit with the seat way reclined, which is very uncomfortable. I want to put in some aftermarket seats that will bring me down lower.

I have been looking into some different options and like the look of Corbeau for both price and looks. Here are the models I am having trouble picking between....

    Corbeau LG1

    http://www.corbeau.com/products/lg1/lg1.shtml

    Corbeau TRS

    http://www.corbeau.com/products/trs/trs.shtml

Both seats would be purchased in the "Wide" configuration.

Basically I want to see if anyone has any experience with aftermarket seats in a mkII in regards to height. I would hate to drop $1000+ and only end up with the same position I am in now. Also if anyone has any other seats they recommend, post em up!

    Thanks guys....

Corrado seats could be an option. They sit much lower than a mk2 apparantly.

aftermarket seats depending on the base generally sit a touch lower than stock. Do you have the heigh adjustment option on your current seats?
My sparcos sit slightly lower than the lowest setting with my GTi seats in there, but its all dependant on the height of the base.

You should be fine, there is no reason it will be any higher thats for sure

Can the stock seat bases be reworked and made to sit lower? You already have Recaro's right?

As for OEM, Corrado or some Scirocco seats are good because they have a pivot point in the front so the back of the seat can be brought way down. No experience with Aftermarket, sorry.

            Hey Jordan,
No experience with aftermarket seats however I know for sure the Corrado recaros sit lower than stock. If choosing between the 2 seats pictured above however definately go with the 2nd set. First ones look too cheezy with the big writing and fake leather patches IMO!!

                Agreed

And I still think this is a better looking seat Jordan

                  Definitely the second set.

I can personally attest that a set of Corrado or Scirroco seats are lower than the stock Mk2 seats. I have a set of scirrocos in my black Jetta as we speak. I'm particularly tall, so they are low ridin...but very supportive. haha

I have heard good things about the value/quality of Corbeau seats, but I have also heard that the black fabric can fade in the sun and turn greyish purple.

I like those too. they look alot more 'OEM' and not. . . Tuner-ish.

But yes, scirocco and corrado seats both sit alot lower then stock mk2 seats (recaros sit pretty high to begin with too)
