  • 2007 City Golf Ipod Install

    Hi all,
I'm curious to hear if anyone's successfully installed an ipod adapter into the 07 City Golf's stock stereo. I've done a lot of reading on various forums and, while it looks like it should work, I have yet to read a post where someone actually has it working! I was just hoping to hear a success story or two (along with which adapter they used) before I go ahead and give it a try. I'm a total audio noob, so I'm hoping for as much info as possible!

    Thanks!

It is usually pretty easy especially if you have a CD changer in the trunk (don't know if the City Jettas do) because you do not need to remove the radio to hook it up. for about 100.00 you should be able to get something that lets you, charge and hook up the iPod via the doc connector port (best because this is a line out and not amplified like the headphone port) and at least some measure of iPod control via the stereo. Here are a couple of examples:

A good place to look for iPod car solutions is ilounge.com

I have a solution from crutchfield for my 03 passat that is basically a aux input from the trunk CD changer harness, no charging or anything but the sound is sweet. Things have changed alot since I bought that but the install could not be any easier from the trunk harness.

I bought the Ipod2Car, model that you have listed from Future Shop. I actually bought it from Visions for $100 as Future SHop was sold out.
My car was in for Timing Belt etc; at TuneDub and had George install the connector.

I then took the iPod holder that came with the kit,.. bought some industrial strength double sided tape from Home Depot, mounted it on teh dash, kinda behind the right side of my steering wheel, and voila, i digital iPod sound thru my monsoon, and it charges it too. apparently it uses the CD changer port.

I have the cord coming out thru the ashtray, and when its not in use, i coil it up, and slide it closed, for a cleaner look.

      im very happy with it.

ps, i can go take pics if you're interested
