If so, it's your brake pad warning light

i dont think it needs to be said but yea its brake pad warning, there is a sensor built into the brake pad and when this touches your rotor it trips a short and turns that dash light on...when u replace ur pads u need to be sure to relocate the sensor into your pads....drive your brakes down to nothing thats why there there and the day you hear a tiny metal on metal you take it in...

great advise. a driver who ignores warning lights regarding brakes and advises to run them until they are metal on metal. that's safe.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3

Pads are cheap, your insurance rating going up for an accident is not.

A good driver doesn't wait for warning lights unless it something internally in the engine or drivetrain that you can't visually check, you should be visually checking pad life on a regular basis. Get a hold of Vagcom and disable that stupid warning lite, mine kept peroidcally coming on with plenty of pad life left.

What the heck, why would you disable the warning light or wear your brake pads down to the metal???

                          Re: Warning light coming up

warning light coming on is a reminder to listen for metal scrapey noises, i must remember that one

ive taken pads down to the metal before (on cars without sensors) and its a clearely noticeable noise and i dont think too detrimental as long as you get in straight away for new ones ie not a week later. I wouldnt recomend it to any one though.

that is not a touch sensor that means the wire at the middle of the sensor is worn through he has no more pad
