  • 08 City Golf stereo issue

Sister in law's City Golf has a buggered CD player. Just wondering if this is isolated, or if anyone else with the new head unit in the Citys have had any problems.

At any rate, it's a warrenty deal. Hope the car isn't needed for long. If any 5th ave guys are here, can a stereo swap be done on the weekend, or is it something that has to be booked in during the week? I'd imagine it's a pretty quick job... yes?

Mine is on the fritz. 07 City Golf. Seems ok playing MP3 CDs, but randomly dies when playing both factory and homemade CD's, goes into retarded mode, and won't eject the CD.

Although instead of a new Factory deck, I think I'd rather go aftermarket along with some new speakers and such to get some better sound.

might as well get the oem one fixed first. they are still worth quite a bit, and i'm sure it would be an upgrade to someone with an 'old' mk4.

Id rather get the factory deck replaced and then get a aftermarket one.

Probably get it fixed, and then install something else. Has anyone bought the parts for a monsoon setup off of ebay and done a swap?

Re: 08 City Golf stereo issue

Stereo replaced on warranty, new one already broken. Time for number 3. Have to try and get 5th Ave to swap the stereo on the spot though this time. Booking the car in for the day for a stereo swap is not going to work if it has to be done every 2 weeks, and there isn't much to diagnose on a stereo since they don't actually repair electronic components. CD doesn't play or eject - replace stereo. Its to bad that stuff like this happens. She loves her car, but the stereo thing is making her second guess the quality of the car.

Wonder if we'll get the CD back...

The radios on the Citys are junk. We replace so many of them that we have acutally started keeping them in stock in our parts department. I have one customer with an 07 City that we've replaced the radio on 4 times!

city golf radios are made by clarion in mexico. euro headunits are blaupunkt.

clarion is usually still pretty decent, at least their aftermarket stuff is. so I guess we have to convince the dealer to bring in a euro head unit then....
