Boost issue!

So driving to work today, I went to drive past some slower moving traffic and noticed I had no power. Looking at my Boost guage, it would spike to about 8-9psi and then would drop pretty steadily to -20 the longer I kept my foot on the throttle. No check engine lights or funny noises. Wow 1.8's are slow without the T. Anyways, I pulled over on a side street, shut off and restarted the car and voila, boost again. Kind of confused!

Any insight?

almost sounds like you went into limp mode.. i forget what chip you have from kyle but i only got mine to go into limp once on the highway and it was funny as hell.. but yea rebooting the car does the trick

Yeah your ECU freaked out- thought you had too much charge pressure and it decided to "turn off" boost for safety. This is a known 1.8T issue especially with modified cars.

If it keeps happening, there are some band-aids that sometimes help. If it only happened once, I would just forget it.

It only ever happened to me once in the GLI, Derek...limp mode it is, and no real reason why lol.

Yeah the car ran great on the way home so i'm not too worries. Thanks for the quick replies fellas!!!
