  • Rotating Tires

I've heard a few opinions on rotating tires. If you have directional tread, rotating front to back is pretty much the only option. If you have non-directional tread, you can do the back to front, and FL to RR, FR to RL thing.

Now the other though I've come across is that you should just do front to back rotation regardless of tread. The reason being that there are a few issues with changing the rotational direction of a tire.

thoughts? i'm over 10k.. gotta get this done this weekend i think.

I have always used the x pattern on my non directional tires and front to back on the directional.

I picked a tire I'd stick with so when 2 burn I'll just buy 2 new ones and so on. Just make sure you best tires are ALWAYS on the rear of the car, FWD or not.

Also don't run them to the wear lines either - getting 6 extra months out of a tire can mean hitting a wall at 80 instead of 0, and that's just in the wet.

yeah.. i stay away from the wear lines. just not worth it. running on a wet road while at the wear indicator doesn't give you much of anything.
