    Re: Cai

I have an Autotech cold air intake in my car.
    I got it at Concept1. Mines a 01 1.8T.
Like mentioned before, it doesnt make much of a difference. The sound it totally awasome though. Especially if you have an exhaust system on it. I have a magnaflow catback on mine and I love the sound

      Re: Cai

I watched a program once on these fuel saving devices. It was a W5 or dateline type show. NONE of the devices that you put into the air intake work. When they approached the designer he didnt want to be on camera. When they finally got him to stop walking away he reluctantly stood by his product claiming HE saved fuel. No independent testing found this to be any better then a paper weight. When asked where he got it tested he had no answers beside HE saved fuel. Its more likely he saved fuel cause he let up on the gas and brake more.
They also did a thing on the "fuel saver" pellets. I cant remember what that testing found out. I can only guess the same result as above.

Ya I know, you don't have to fill the oil up ever. These things should be stock on all brands. I know they come on all the new fords!!!

I have a K&N intake on my 2.0T and there is a noticable difference, before the engine ran out of breath just after 5 grand now it pulls to the red line. Not good noise though when you are driving like a normal person.

mythbusters tried as well. best was the homemade hydrogen generator. didnt work, so they just blew hydrogen in to the carb, right out of a cylinder. ran well.... made for a nice explosion too.. heh.

this thread is worse than the mk4 forums on the vortex. the intelligence level of some of you when it comes to knowing what does/doesn't make power for your car is ridiculous.

save your money and get some suspension. it's already been posted, and will continue to be. otherwise if you just want to throw money at stupid things I can come over and you can throw money at me

Its generally wise to improve the parts that keep you car on the road before you add power. Good suspension, tires, breaks are always a good thing. Doesn't have to be super fancy. I just picked up low mile suspension from a GLI for my car. Not as tight as a lot of the other setups on here, but still much nicer than what it came with. Tires also don't have to be the best ones out there. Just make sure what you have in in good shape, and not a wallmart special with a 100km/hr speed rating that handle like a wet sponge. Nice suspension and tires/wheels can give your car a much more sporty feel, and improve appearance at the same time. OEM breaks are pretty good, but make sure they are working 100%. If all that stuff checks out, then look for upgrades. Chip is probably the most easy/gratifying.

actually, you should worry about all the problems with your car (from your other posts) before you worry about modding it too much.
