Oh wait, mostly all the techs at Northland are Chrysler techs. They won't have a problem doing head gaskets on them..
Don't forget the infamous transmission problems.
It looks pretty good I think, but caravans just have too many problems and are just built way too cheap. If I was in the market though and this was only slightly more than the competition I would def consider it.
Yes, the Touran is an MPV style vehicle, I understand that. VW in Europe had a much larger van aswell, although I can't remember the name of it. I assumed the association based on the name, afterall why would VW name 2 different vehicles so similarly?
Sharan or Caravelle? Is the Sharan bigger or smaller than the Touran? The Caravelle is more the size of a minivan here, but looks to be targeting comercial market.

The Sharan is a mini van project that was co-developed with Ford.
Both are bigger than a Touran which is just a stretched Golf platform, so in effect you have a Golf, Golf Plus and Touran all getting a little bigger. I would say than the Routan is the NA version of the Sharan, except made with Chrysler instead of Ford.

It's a chrysler platforms, but the drivetrain, sheetmetal and interior is all supposed to be VW is it not?
The drivetrains will be the same as the Caravan. The interior is re-designed but still uses a fair amount of chrysler components. On the outside, I beleive the doors are the only shared components. Possibly the roof skin as well, but I'm not sure on that one.

Correct, its a Chrysler underneath the body styling. Suspension "tuned" by VW but transmission and engine are from the Caravan and the interior is described as being somewhere in-between VW-normal (good) and Chrysler normal (bad).
