wasn't the CV joint on mine

It wasn't the CV joint, it was the drivers side output bearing in the transmission. Northland is the dealer I'm at, please don't go to 5th ave for reasons I'll describe at a later date.

My car has guess what, 27,800 km. Eeeeery!

Rock stock 2000 VR6 GTI, the only thing not original are the wheels. The comments the dealer made were to the effect that the CV joints never go and it 'must have been a bad one' sort of talk. Having just been nailed with a brand new tranny Northland may be a bit gunshy right now..ah for all I know they'll make more this way.

As I stated earlier, the dealer cost for the joint was about 100 bucks cheaper than they would invoice you after warranty doesn't cover it. Also, rebuilts are about half of new, about 350.00.

That's strange... you're still waiting? Bart's car has been fixed for a bit now. He was at Auto-Cross last night making record, kick-ass times.

            VR6 Tranny

I guess VR6 trannies are harder to come by, not to mention what I think of service advisor. His was CV joint more major here. Maybe tranny slow to show.

I've been on them, just has taken time.

                  ???

                  Ordered wrong part again...

                  I'm freaking out.

Yes they gave me a 2.0 Auto Golf that has never even been delivery prepped. Inch of dust in interior, windows nearly transparent, white paint covered in dust stuck to glue from shipping plastic removal...

Don't like the 2.0 too much. Prefer the car I was driving 5 weeks ago.

2 more weeks, actually manufacturing 4th gear in Germany. Have communicated dissatisfaction to Service Manager. About to communicate it to VW Canada.

Two months to diagnose and replace transmission???
