wasn't the CV joint on mine
It wasn't the CV joint, it was the drivers side output bearing in the transmission. Northland is the dealer I'm at, please don't go to 5th ave for reasons I'll describe at a later date.
My car has guess what, 27,800 km. Eeeeery!
Rock stock 2000 VR6 GTI, the only thing not original are the wheels. The comments the dealer made were to the effect that the CV joints never go and it 'must have been a bad one' sort of talk. Having just been nailed with a brand new tranny Northland may be a bit gunshy right now..ah for all I know they'll make more this way.
As I stated earlier, the dealer cost for the joint was about 100 bucks cheaper than they would invoice you after warranty doesn't cover it. Also, rebuilts are about half of new, about 350.00.
