my 1.8L barely started this afternoon after sitting at the train station all day. if you aren't able to plug in whats the best way to make sure your car will start?

make sure your tank is relatively full.
This doesn't really help with getting the car to start, but i leave my window open a tiny crack to let the moisture out of the car so i don't get ice build-up on the inside of the glass.Tim

Re: sooo how're the zerostarts working?
Started mine up at -43 the other day, she grumbled but started on the first try. I usually plug in the oil pan pad which makes a huge difference but I forgot to in this instance. I let it run for 20 minutes after before driving it though.
The thing that pisses me off the most is trying to get it into reverse so i can back out of the driveway. So now I leave it in reverse when I shut it off. (This is due to the short shifter.)Dylan

Re: sooo how're the zerostarts working?
in the VW manuals it tell you not to let your car run (idle) to warm it up its says to just drive moderately until car is warm. for those of us in really cold climates(-30 or more) do you think this rule should still apply.2003 Jetta GLI VR6

Re: sooo how're the zerostarts working?
for the sake of the car i'd say give it at least 5-10 mins in the cold, more for the sake of your comfort.Last edited by stefan; 01-31-2008, 01:56 PM.Stefan

If you want to idle to warm up, you need to be able to set a high idle.
