From all I've read they are not any quicker. I noticed the redline is 400 rpm higher too. -

from what i've heard form people who have driven both there is quite a bit of a difference between the two.

not really apples to apples, but driven the 07 engine in a jetta and the 08 engine in the rabbit. both were auto. new rabbit was defiantly peppier.Stefan

Someone dyno'd both on vortex I think and these were the results
07 - 141hp, 154lb ft
08 - 147hp, 161lb ft
