    Re: 16V Idle Problems

Next time it dies, pull your plug wires off your plugs, check the plugs themselves for moisture, check the wires, and check your distributor. Look for cracks in the covers or wires or connectors.

Probably no point to this but its somewhere to start.

I'm still thinking the Gasline antifreeze had something to do with it. I never had any electrical issues with the car!

stil saying MAF, when it goes bad most of the time itll go bad then it will be good for a week, then go bad for a couple days and be good for another week till it completely goes...dont let plugging it in fool you i have a feeling that is irrelevant

A nice way to check if it is electrical due to moisture is that the reason it runs rough can be coz its not sparking coz its shorting via the wet cables. put your car in a garage turn out the lights get someone to rev the engine in quick bursts with the pedal to floor and then off again and if there is shorts youll eb able to see little electrical arc n sparks tracking over your wires or distributor cap etc. it actually looks pretty cool.

can also be cracked spark plugs will do the same thing, worse sypmtoms when the engines cold coz the crack is wider!

the reason its good to rev it in quick hard spurts is that with higher compression in the cylinder (from giving it more gas) its harder to make a spark and thus more likely to find an easier way out over the damp wires.

          dum de dum....

PS make sure youve got the garage door open and the exhaust facing out!! dont wanna gas yourselves.

clean the airflow sensor in it.

It will probably do it again intermitantly .. they get gummed up and stick. ... same thing happened to me and it helped out alot
