I am a noob, just got my first car, a 2001 Golf 1.8T,so far the only thing that is added to the engine is a chip, i was wondering if it is worth it to get a new intake or a turbo intake tube or anything else without spending too much right away...

Re: 1.8t intakes/ performance
In my experience, adding a cone filter or cold air intake won't really do much for performance on the 1.8T, but it will make the turbo much louder. I noticed a nice increase in mid-range power and a little faster spool-up after changing the turbo inlet pipe to a samco one. It wasn't night and day or anything but it was noticable. I'd say get the turbo inlet pipe before you get an intake if you are looking for an actual performance increase.Mike - 2011 A4 S-Line

Re: 1.8t intakes/ performance
next up would be a larger turbo, better intercooler, in terms of getting higher HP after you have done the chip and cat back.Team Highschool

I'd stay away from CAI...possible to hydro-lock the car if you find yourself in water deeper than you thought. Friend of a friend did that to his Jetta.
No matter what you do, do it tastefully and thoughtfully. The GLS 1.8t is a rare bird...treat it right!Jeff
