  • HELPPPPP!!! Window Fallen, and stuck in door.

    HI all,

Well yesterday (friday), I washed my car around lunchtime. Later that night, stopped by Wendys Drive-Thru and pressed the 'down' button, only to hear it 'whirrr' as it was frozen stuck to the window sill. I thought, big deal, just opened the door and bought/got my late night supper, and parked the car outside my house for the night, the window was up. There was no sounds from the window as I drove home, nor when I parked it for the night.

So this morning, the window was all the way down. (weird I know).
At first I thought my car had been broken into. I asked my folks to park it in their garage, and heat up. I just checked on it, and it appears the window is off its track & stuck in the door. This is crappy timing, as I still have xmas shopping to do (eek). I'm sure George won't be in shop til Thursday at the earliest.

    Helpppp?!?!?!

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Cam

It's the window regulator. Common issue with 2-door golfs. Happened to my old car, so I sympathize.

Just take it to the dealer and they'll fix it right up.

All you can do is take it to the dealership.

when this happened to me i used some pliers to get the window out of the door, and some suction cups to keep it in place until i got it fixed.

thx fellas. i searched Window Regulator on the 'tex, and apparently found some interesting info from VWoA. They extended the warranty on this part fo 7 yrs/Unlimited Miles, so I should be covered. Apparently its some plastic part, that VW has replaced with a metal one.

Sorry to say but VWoA is for America...

If you take the car to the dealer they will charge you for all the labour/parts. I know because i took my car there once and that is what i was told. I did however manage to get them to pay for the parts and i would just have to pay for the labour. This is after about 10 min of bikkering about how this should of been a recall for us as well.

              Best of luck.

I've done it myself and other than that special hex bolt thing you need for the door lock, it's not bad. The regulator kit with both sides and 1 extra winder (I didn't need mine) was 60 bucks I think?

i know my car did the same thing and it was fixed on a recall. i dont know the criteria you need to be eligible for the recall but you might as well check it out. good luck

they replaced my passenger side window clips at the dealer for free..

then when it happened to my driver side i just did it my self..cost like $40 or something for regulator cable, and clips.

Re: HELPPPPP!!! Window Fallen, and stuck in door.

                      Ok update.

Called VW of Canada, they told me I'm S.o.L.
I said in the U.S they pay less for the car (exchange rate), yet they get more warranty coverage? I'll write a letter or somethin. Meh.
Dealerships won't do anything because I don't get my service done at them.

Welp, time for me to stop being a pussy office kid, and get my hands dirty. So I bought a Window Regulator $80 from George at TubeDub, (i'm tapped for cash after xmas)

So I went to Crappy Tire to buy the necessary tools, unfortunately couldnt find this 'mystical' "8mm triple square tool". So I'm off to NAPA tomorrow to fix it then roll to Revelstoke LOL.

Nappa has the bolt - that's where I got mine. You can also borrow it if you want I'm in the SW behind COP. It's like 8 bucks or something retarded.
