  • 006 or 007?

    Hey guys;
Which is the way to go the forge 006 or 007 DV. I would like to hear some feedback on each if possible. Also can i keep the engine cover on with either one?
    Thanks.

Some people modify the cover and cut a hole for the larger DV but then still keep the cover.

I thought that the 006 was the bigger one that doesn't fit..

I'm sure the 006 is bigger.

i have the 007. the cover will easily go back on. no fitment problems here. can't say anything about the performance between the two since i only have the 007. for the 007, boost seems to start earlier, at around 100-200rpm lower, holds at around 7-8psi steady at 1/2 throttle and about 12psi at WOT.

it is also the easiest mod ever...took me around 15 minutes..and if i can do it, a monkey can do it!! remember though to buy some clamps since the ones used for your OEM DV are one use clamps.

                    I'm BAAAACK!

The 006 will not fit under the cover, its HUGE.

The 007 will fit. However, on mine the hose on the top "nipple" rubs against the cover. I didn't want my rubber hose to wear through so I have forgone putting the cover back on.

I would buy the 007 since it works the same as the 006. If you want Bling Bling then get the 006 though.

Does anybody know if the Forge DV-R is the same siz as the 006 or the 007? I mean, does it fit under the cover?

I'll answer my own question for those who are wondering.

The DV-R is similar in size to the 007.

006 - was originally designed for the Mustang then used on Audis and VWs. This valve does not fit under the engine cover.

007p - was later designed specifically for Audis and VWs. It has the same internals of the 006, but is designed to fit under the engine cover. Some have reported rubbing of hoses on the engine cover. Installing the valve backwards seems to fix this problem.

DV-R - Is the diaphragm version (as opposed to the piston types above) and has the quickest response time. Leakage and tearing of the diaphragm seems to be an issue with this valve. Forge has a lifetime warranty and will replace the diaphragms if torn.

All Forge valves are designed to hold over 50 psi.

                        Hope this helps someone.

Not sure about installing the valve backwards... I have a sneaky feeling that the same people who install their DV's backwards say that there are no problems with a BOV on our cars... which I think is not true.

Forge install instructions say that the valve can be installed in either orientation, but recommend the same orientation as the OEM. Apparently, it just operates louder when installed backwards.

                            check out the install instructions:
