hello all. just thought id say hi and formally introduce myself. My name is Doug, im from just outside Winnipeg Manitoba. i drive a 2004.5 GLS 1.8T. i dont really have any major mods. All i have right now is basically a B&M short throw kit, short ram intake and then a pretty decent stereo. im workin on paying off the car before i add anything significant to it. im the first and only owner so paying it off is high priority!! the plans are to drop it 1.5", chip it (probably revo cus they're local), 3" turbo back exhaust, and get some slick wheels. anything else ill probably only do if i win the lotto or something.

the little bit that ive been around the forum, it looks like there are some pretty good guys in here. lots of good info. lookin forward to meeting some of you!

btw:if any of you know where i can find a DIY on the zerostart (tank style) coolant heater for a 1.8T, i would be more than willing to accept that information

    my whip...

(pchop - enlarged wheels, side skirt, dropped 2 or so inches)

thanks guys. yea if those wheels were 18" i wouldnt even want to change them... buuuut they're 15" so i will one day when ive got the $$

i went to VW in winnipeg and i saw the OZ Canova wheels at their parts counter and i really liked them at the time so i did a Pchop of what they'd look like on my car.. part of me loves them, part of me hates them.. so i probably wont get them but here's what it looks like

btw: the grille looks different in these last two pictures because someone flung up something from the road and busted my original grille and then i bought a black grille off a buddy. so i had to pchop the changes to match my current setup

          Nice car man.

While we're on the topic of introducing ourselves, I'll say hey folks. Been lurking for a while, and purchased my first VW in August. It's a 07 Golf City, Bone stock, 5 speed with all the bells and whistles that you can get on a Golf City.

Except apparently a light under the hood or in the boot.

And the retention pegs in the floor that keep your monster mats from sliding all over the place.

And the cover for where the emergency triangle and First Aid kit would go.

And a stereo that doesn't throw Error 02 all the time.

Otherwise I'm thrilled with the car. Have to be pretty active with the gearbox to keep the power up in the 2.0, but I'm sure everyone here already knows that. It's a lot nicer than the neon I used to drive.

Haha, yeah my girlfriend has a neon, and its way different from my Jetta.
I like the new City Golf's! For the price you can't go wrong.

Yeah it's nice to not have to holler at passengers while going over 50k, and having your teeth rattled out of your head at every little bump.

whatever yuo choose make sure they fit right, there is nothing worse when people get wheels that fit poorly.
The MK4 has big wheels wells so getting some rim/tire combo that fills it all is key. Also spacing out the rear slightly looks a hell of a lot better and meaner.

yea forsure, ive been on vwvortex for quite a while now and about 3 other euro forums so ive got some vw style experience. ill be getting 18" wheels and ill probably space the front 10mm and the rear 15mm, subtle but tasteful. i cant wait till ive got money for my hobby stuff
