  • mk4 golfs: rear wiper assembly

i discovered today that the washer fluid tube that passes thru the rear wiper assembly broke.. again.

I tried to fix it by using a plastic tube, but it still leaks. Is there any way to get this thing repaired or do I have to buy the whole piece with the motor and gears? The last time it broke on me i replaced the whole thing because I found a replacement for $40 (a guy who shaved his hatch and didn't need the part anymore).

Brent (can't remember his screen name) has fixed this, I believe. Do a search and you may find something (even photos if I remember correctly).

If you want a spare assembly (with a busted washer tube) to practice on, let me know, I'll cut you a great deal on it.

    Good luck!

I did repair mine by taking apart the motor assembly and removing the nozzle assembly. I then bought some copper tubbing that was just the right size to slide over the broken section. I then just soldered the tubing on and reassembled the unit. I haven't had a problem since. I think they usually brake from trying to rotate the nozzle housing. If you need to adjust it to you liking it is best to pull it right out and put it back in the direction you want. I am sure if you do a search you should be able to find my other writeup on the repair.

Mine broke about 1 inch in from the fitting inside the box. The problem is that the other part of the tube is stuck inside the bigger tube and I can't get it to budge.

I'm not sure I want to get a hammer and pin and use brute force to get it out.

I bought the tubing at PM hobbycraft. The diameter was a little bit to big so I basically just used it to lengthen the good pieces that where left. I also had to crimp the tubbing a little so it would fit tighter to the original size before I soldered it.
