beauty of the 1.8T is its all able to be controlled via the chips o you dont really need any stand alone EMS until you really get high into the power.

ah i see i see. for my own knowledge, are the chips programmable or do they all come pre-programmed and not able to modify at all? i assume all the chips use the stock ECU and just run on a "piggy-back" system.

There are a bunch more thing you can do as well.
You can do light mods that give you a bit more HP for farily cheap.
Ie. CAI, catback exhaust.
Im not to sure whether or not those are classified in stages though.
The only minor performce enhancing things in my car are a Magnaflow Catback exhaust and a K & N air filter(although not really performce). Soon to be accompanied by a CAI and a Diverter valve

no you can pull the chips and just simply plug in a new one.

For example, I will be running a 42# software for my bigger injectors that will give me a better fueling map and ability to use all of the new fueling additions.

I simply pop out the old chip and pop in the new one. Takes less than 5 minutes to do. You can also custom tune these chips if you have the sofrware.

Think of it as "Tall, Grande, Venti" at Starbucks. It just means Small, Medium and Large. If you say you have a Stage 3, you got the large.

also two companys offer you the abbility to slightly change some parameters on your own in the ecm. ie revo lemmiwink or unitronic unitune,

Geee, Kor comes up with a perfectly simple and easy to grasp concept then CT goes and blows it all up in the air again by putting up a piccy with a fourth step in it, this **** really is confusing. Whats the first step, stage -1, hybrid motor replacement???

I can remember when stage 2 was the only size McD's sold, the big two were added much later, but thats a little offf topic srry
