  • Coilpack replacement help

Well my car (01 1.8t) has sat idle in my garge for almost 4 days now and I thought instead of studying I would try to fix, what I atleast think is the problem: the coilpacks.

Im cheap though and want to just use the JBweld alternative but Im confused as how you go from this:

    To this:

Or is this just for VR6's? Im quite confused as what to do, but it sounds like an easy job, so Im looking for a little help. Thanks guys.

Its a 1.8t. So that confirms what I thought, that second pic is for a VR6. Mhh well is there a cheap alternative (glue) that can be used on a 1.8t?

          As per http://www.elitedubs.com/index.php?topic=988
My symptoms on wednesday night were:
Missfires under Boost Flashing CEL – Ignition Coils, Spark Plugs

          And are now:
No Start – Battery - ECU, Fuel Pump Relay, Ground
Start For 1 Second - Stall – Immobilizer

Oh man I sure hope I dont have ALL those problems

You can buy a bracket kit to hold coilpacks down too, some have had success with this solution.

I've found that the volvos will set immobilizer codes if the battery dies (they set lots of funny codes) not too sure about vws though

did you try your other key.
people have dropped their keys and had the chip fail.

                  whoa. common problem.
i had two coils go down on friday night. parked the car for the weekend, unexpectedly dropped in on George at Tunedub.. after going to work.. picked up my car about 2 hours ago, & presto good as new.

oops, forgot to mention. replaced all 4 with, 'R' type coils

What does 'R' type mean exactly? lol.

sorry for reviving this post but i really got caught up with this topic and i think you could just buy a bracket kit for your 1.8 rather than do the DIY. It will be more safe and effective.

                      Re: Coilpack replacement help

I've got 4 used but known good coils for sale if anyone wants them. I changed my coils to the fsi coils a while back so the old ones have just been sitting around.

lol, I just realized how old this thread was after making a post.
