Does anyone else hear what sounds like a gear grinding when they turn on their car when it gets to be fairly cold? I dunno, it has happened a couple of times since it got cooler. It's just for a split second and right at the end of an ignition crank.

Re: Interesting noise.
It is definitely the starter. Google it for the fix, which also doesn't always work. My wifes car does this and I hope to have it fixed 100% next time I take it apart.Name: Brent

Re: Interesting noise.
My Jetta 1.8T was doing this on cold start ups. I have recently have my engine speed sensor (crank sensor) replace. That changed my car completly! That starter problem is gone, the idel is better, the trottle responce is better, and diffenitly more power too.sigpic
