I can sympathize with Freddy for having a lemon, god knows on golfmkv and the vortex there are others that have had similar issues, but using inflammatory wording on an enthusiast site is likely to have a negative reaction.

But....back to the original topic, I still don't see anything on the Tex or the net about this melting/blowing up/WMD headlight issue other than the plastic caps that "prevent" independent adjustment of the high beams from the low beams. Can you post a scan of the letter or at least type it out?

i got this letter a few weeks ago, i then called vw to see if it needs to be done asap or at my next service. i was told the next service is fine to do it.

That sort of implies you think all GTI's are bad, lots of people have had no trouble.

Stick to the facts and more people will be friendly I bet? But you're insulting a lot of other people's cars so don't be surprised if they speak up to the contrary when you do, and tell you to stop complaining?

I agree with everyone quoted. I have have not been in these forums long but the majority of the posts are about how Freddy has a shetty car and that all VW MK5 Gti's are crap. Personally I think enough is enough already.

i've been in the V.W scenario for 20 years and some people do get lemons,
just ask all those passat ownwers 1990-1992.

the same cars that were bought back and resold the 2nd owner never complained about the same quirks.

as was said by a technical advisor from V.W some cars are not engineered for
some people and they will never be happy.

I was actually going to post the same comment. I've been with VW for almost 11 years. We have taken back cars from people that had nothing but issues, resold them and the new owners have had no complaints!

I never said they would explode, they stick when you flash low to high more then a few times.

Can you post a scan of the recall letter (omitting personal info like your name, address) here and/or on the vortex? I'm sure the global vw community would be appreciative of important info like this, especially when their car could potentially catch fire...

The letter does not state it will cause a fire LOLOL. That sentence was just me wishing it would,is what I said just cause it was just one more problem i have to deal with. Please call jessica at WV Canada or any vw service person, they will tell you about it. Pm me if you have any further question about it. I don't want to talk about this anymore
