  • Need Vr6 Advice

Hey Guys, I'm Interested In Turbo Chargeing The 99 Gti Vr6 But I Need To Know Where To Start, Parts, What Do I Need To Upgrade? The Car Has 180k So I'm Sure Somethings Will Need To Be Strengthened. Any Pointers Would Be Great, Thanks In Advance.
    1) 2007 Candy white MKV GTI. DSG, votex kit, 19" Privat netz, tinted tails, smoked side markers & mirror signals, 20% tint, TT stubby, APR sport 3" turbo back exhaust, ABD stage 2 cold air intake. GONE.
    2) 1993 Green Corrado VR6. ABD intake. FK Silverline coils, Zimmerman cross drilled & slotted rotors. GONE.

$4,500-$9,000 to start just for the kit.

    Then you will need installation.

And probably a lot of accessories and other costs. Most of these do not include intercoolers, piping, full turbo-back exhausts, in-car electronics or engine management, tuning costs, etc.

I would say this project will cost you $6,000.00-$15,000.00

Not sure its worth spending that much on a 12v VR6

Is the car even worth that much? Keep in mind that

    - There is a point where, after you start, you can't go back
    - You will never recover that money if you ever sell the car
    - The car won't even be that fast compared to other tuner cars

There's Always A Faster Car Out There, But I Love The Mk3 Gti's, All Of This Is Still Up In The Air. Just Kinda Of Starting The Research, I'll Have To Make Some Decisions, But I Want Them To Be Informed.

Well the thread above summarizes all of the major 12v VR6 kits so they are your best start. I would suggest finding a local shop to help you and working with the kit supplier to meet your exact needs.

You might want to consider something like an R32 swap which may in the end be a similar price.
