I've seen a ton of then on AudiZine (same 2.0T engine as yours) and most people agree on there that when chipped, the stock one won't last too long. Durability ranges from a few days, to 10 or 11 months from what they say, and I'm sure it depends a lot on how hard you push it and what boost levels you're using. Apparently it's very easy to remove (on the Audis) and you can actually look at the rubber diaphram to see if it's ripped. I've also heard if you have a boos gauge you'll see lower overall boost due to the leakage. Does this help at all?
PS - thanks again for the work on my windshield, I can see out of it again!
I don't think you'd have anything to worry about if you replaced your fragile OEM DV with the Forge unit. I would guess they are more concerned about the chip than a burly DV.
PS - if you sell your GTI before I chip my wife's wagon, I'll buy it off you
