It's a pretty large job on any car though, and requires specialized tools

this is one of those questions, if you have to ask its prolly above your mechanical level.

It involves dropping the tranny, pulling it apart and installing, not something even those who are moderately mechanically inclined would take on themselves, or have the tools and resources to do on their own.
I don't know how much a shop would charge for install, it would vary greatly however if you pulled the tranny at least youself rather than driving in.

its actually not that hard. . . i dont know about o2a's and j's but me and one buddy did his in an o2o in a weekend at a slow pace with beers involved..

i wasn't trying to be a dick, but I feel pretty comfortable around cars and its not something I will be tackling alone.

I am ordering from a guy in the states. Lowest price by far than I have found elsewhere.

How hard are they to install?

sometimes the tranny has to be split 3-4 times before you get the rite pattern and preload and then ordering the rite shims could take 1 day or 2 weeks.

believe me i know.
any were from 6 to 9hrs labor after the tranny is removed.
