Fantastic! What happined now!

So im driving how today and my engine light pops on.

So i get home and turn off the car, when i turn it back on the rpms jump high then usually and then slowly settle back down. Also when i go to rev it it hesitates a little bit. I think it time to bring it in but any guesses on what this could be?

I have an idea, scan it with a VAG-COM!

you cannot expect any one of us to do tech support on your car when you dont even tell us what year, make and model, and engine the car you drive is.

is this a different problem from your other thread? sounds the same but worded differently. crystal ball says bad air getting into the motor.

its a 2001 jetta 1.8T

Im not sure if the problems are related. I hope so. The engine light just came on while driving. It seens to drive fine now but the engine light is on.
The other problem it wouldent start and when it finally did it through a EPC code untill i turned it off and started it again. Im taking it in asap. Thanks.

MAF possibly?, but wy too early too tell without a run through VAG-COM. That'll pinpoint or atleast narrow down the problem for ya.

How much will it cost to get it scanned with vag com at the dealership? Or where is a good place to get it asap?

sorry, i was kinda being a bit of a smart ass. but if i had to answer, i'd say the air is bad cause it's contaminated by an over oiled k&n filter gumming up the MAF.
