  • MK IV Car Stereo Recomendations

Just wondering what people would recommend for a new head unit with an iPod connection. Also where people run a cable to. Is there a big difference in sound quality? I don't plan on upgrading the speakers and don't want anything too flashy but to match the Blue/Red colour scheme.

Panasonics seem to match the color scheme and have an ipod jack in the front.

Of course, this would be last years model so...
    Now: 00 2dr Golf TDI, 03 Jetta Wagon TDI, 02 2500HD Duramax
Then: 69 SC Transporter, 84 Rabbit GTI, 87 Fox GL, 91 Golf IDI, 96 Passat Wagon TDI, 97 Jetta IDI

I liked the look of the Panasonics. Not that it matters with an iPod but will my factory CD Changer work with a Panasonic head unit?

Blaupunkt makes the factory stereo so their blueish purple lit aftermarket decks are a perfect color match at night.

My other recommendation is an Alpine

I personally think the panasonics sound quality sucks...but maybe thats cause it was a cheap deck.

I really like the stock stereo, the sound is nice, its simple, fits flush and the colors match. This is the single-din.

Um, i would have to go with kris, Alpine makes really good decks and for the matter all there audio equipment is really good. i have ALL alpine equipment other then my deck, Which is a eclipse. i find the the alpines have good sound quilty for the money.

It really comes down to how much money you have to spend and personal preferences. Best of both worlds..go with alpine.

I may be selling my cd3000 deck, i am getting a new double din touch screen eclipse.

hope that helps with your search.

              Eclipse is also good

I agree panasonic has at least a reputation for lower quality car audio and personally I think an Alpine will sound better.

I have a sony deck. The bue is a little lighter but the red matches perfect. I like the sound quality it produces (Mind you its not alpine but it works) and it has a connection for an ipod to. A bonus is it doesnt cost you an arm and leg for it either

i bought a Pioneer D3 and i love it! it has an ipod jack so you can control it though the head untit. It comes with navigation and a blue tooth! and i noticed such a difference in the sound quality of the stock sterio. I did the instal my self and it was fairly easy...then hardest part was mounting it, i highly recomend finding a cage for it

i have a jvc exad single-din dvd deck in my car, its allright, looks very nice, matches the blue dash very well and the 3.5" screen is suprisingly very sharp and clear

was a ***** to install and will only work on the "on" position though

i just got a premier 590Ib or something like that. has the IBUS technology which means it hooks up to an ipod and displays the actual ipod interface on the deck. was about 250 and sounds good too.

I had a kenwood head unit in my last VW (2000 TDI) the colours matched real well and the new X range are supposed to have excellent sound quality with IPOD connectivity and blue tooth adapter if you want one.

Actually, anyone know a Kenwood dealer in the south? id like to go have a look at the new range myself. dont say fshop or badbuy, they only carry the older models.

                          Thx.

The new alpine matches the colors like exact. The deck it gunmetal color and the buttons light up right and some blue. Has ipod conection and does mp3. I got the deck and installed for like 220. The sound is awesome but its a very simple deck. But thats what i like.
Got it from visons on 32nd.
