Jetta dashboard question

Hey guys,

sorry for all the qestions recently, you have all been a big help.

On my dash board my 3 dials (vents, heat/cool, and fan speed) do not light up when i put my lights on. Is there a good chance this is just a bulb or something more serious? How do i get in there to change the bulb, i dont want to wreck the plastic. Thanks guys.

Bulb or fuse.
No idea how to get in there.

Bulb is common. The centre knob (fan speed) pulls off and the bulb is in there somewhere. Take a look on the vortex, I have seen some good DIYs around.

I had to replace this, the easiest thing to do is pop off the centre knob, and take a piece of 1/4" vacuum tubing. stick it in until it presses on to top of bulb, twist and pull out, then wash rinse repeat to put new bulb back in. you'll only need about 3-4 inches of tube.

Do i just pull stright out on the center knob?

You turn it to a certain point then it comes out. Check mk4 faq on vortex.

haha happens on my gti, sometimes they turn on sometimes they dont

^^ i think the bulb or something is just lose on yours, if it doesent come on, just give it a tap and it will lol.
