H&R and KW are both raelly good companies. I raelly comes down to how much money you have to spend on coilovers. I kinda see as "you get what you pay for" kinda deal. but if you are looking not too spend lots of money, koni or KW would be a good choice.
well. you cant really go wrong, it raelly up to you. but FK seems to be all in order, they have warrenty and all that, plus you can get them in calgary. If you are going to spend that kinda money, why dont you get koni or even the powertech ones. they looks pretty sweet.
FKs are bonejarring. I dont really like mine. They are just highsports though. I got mine for really cheap, and I wish I would saved for something better
Adjustability, how adjustable do you want them and how easy do you want it to be to adjust them?
Flex of the shock itself, the stanchions (thin part that moves in and out of the dampner). How thick are they? How flexible? Some are like 20mm thick others 40mm thick - this is a huge difference.
Materials, are they gonna corrode, rust? Will they seize and be impossible to raise/lower or adjust?
How far up/down to they go? Some only go up or down like 3cm others 5cm or 10cm! Some will not go right to the ground others will go all the way down.
Personally I say Bilstein is the leader followed by Koni. They make the suspensions used by race cars.... H&R and KW are different kinds of companies I think maybe a bit smaller and more focused on tuning? Not sure whats better, I think that the research and development budget of Koni is probably 10x as much as KW just a wild guess.
If money is not the issue I would get PSS9's if you can afford them, they are popular and never heard anything bad.
I think all coilovers do make the ride firmer since they are typically lower.
I have the FK Silverlines. They're pretty good. I doubt you'll find much that goes as low. As for ride quality, their not bad. Way rougher then stuck, but then i guess that's what you expect when your car's 3 inches lower...
I used to have Eibach on my MK3 and they were great!
Look on vwvortex they have some great group buy's and you can usually get some good quality coilovers for less money than buying the FK ones locally. Also you can find good deals on ebay once in a while.
