      Re: Diverter Valve

I was chipped. Reversing the DV just changed the sound. One way was higher pitched and a bit lounder. It was more of a chirp than a pffft.

I thought the DV's were directional. Would there be any adverse affects on their operation by running them "backwards"?

            Re: Diverter Valve

In a piston type valve it won't matter. When vacuum is applied to the top of the valve the piston moves and air goes through in either direction. It just sound chirpy/weird.

If you want loud though I can definitely recommend the Neuspeed CAI which is also a super awesome quality intake.

The diverter valves will hold better in the stock direction.... they are designed like that for a reason.

If you are a valve engineer then I believe you, if you read it on the vwvortex then I say "designed like that for a reason" is not a reason.

Does this work with the stock plastic dv? Just switch where the 2 big pipes connect?

                          Re: Diverter Valve

BOV do not work well with VW/Audi's due to how the air is measured at the MAF. Running one means you run rich on fuel during boost due to the metered air being released. Plus they sound stupid.

Are you a valve engineer? Not very often will someone quote Vortex as a source of the truth.... the stock diaphram BPV's are designed to be used in one direction... and not doing so will reduce its life span. Im guessing the Audi VW engineers built them that way for a reason... and they are engineers!

That being said.. if someone is looking for a Forge BPV with tuning kit.. I got one laying around.. hows $75 sound?
