depending on your intake system you can sometimes hear them dump the air back into the system..

Well I was looking at buying a Carbonio Cold Air intake system and then buying an ADR diverter vavle. The only thing im really looking to gain is a bit more emphasis on the sound of my turbo. I love the way it sounds with the Magnaflow exhaust so I want to try and increase it

If you buy an intake and a diverter valve you will hear it, absolutely.

depends on if you go internally vented or externally vented.

internal will be pretty quiet, but noticeable under hard driving
external (aka Blowoff Valve) is much more noticable and makes more noise, always

I have installed a Carbonio cold air on my car, and i would have to say the sound did not change one bit. i did not even feel any difference in power.

If your looking for sounds Carbonio is not the way.

the carbonio on a mk4 is different than a mk5 its actually a tube that goes down low

On my Mk4 I had a Neuspeed Race CAI and a Forge piston DV reversed, and it was so loud that I thought the sound would shatter bus shelter glass. This is an internally vented valve.

I has Neuspeed Cold air intake on my mk4 gti 1.8t and i upgraded the stock diverter valve to a forge alluminum one. Its pretty much like a blow off valve if you know what that is. Except it dumps the air back into the intake not under the hood.

I didnt notice any differnce with the upgraded dv but it said that is needs to be upgraded if you plan to chip and add more boost etc.

With Cold air intake you will lose a tiny bit of low end but gain some top end. I love it, you can really hear the turbo spool and howl. Then when you change gears or realease your foot off the gas you get a big "psshhhhhh" of air sound. I liked it.

So why hook the DV in reverse?? What advantages does does this method have? I have upgraded DV's and intake system, besides the extra growl from intake I don't hear DV's operating at all. How much boost were you running, maybe I just don't have enough boost.
