I wonder if it matters which ecu we get (awd, awp etc) if we are just gonna chip it anyways. Kor bought the awp ecu, chipped it and put it in place of his awd. It sounds like he hasn't had any issues so far.

I haven't been able to find an APR dealer close enough to reap the benefits of DPP. You still have to send an ecu to them. In which case, it doesn't matter if they program it through the serial port or rip the chip out and solder it back in.

well i know the ECUs are coded for engine year and trannie so it does matter.. i think kri's car is a 02.5 which is how it worked for him.. i know my 03 has a AWP engine code and needs a LP ECU (correct me on this but i'm sure thats why i'm rocking)

Okay I see some serious need for corrections here.

I have an AWP Engine (not AWD).

My original ECU was the "HS" (2002) and I replaced it with an "LP" (2003). It works perfectly. You can also likely go the other way - replace a "LP" with an "HS". But these are both from AWP engines.

I am not so sure that you can change AWP/AWD ecu's. Probably not.

I am using the stock N75 on my car without any trouble. The stock DV (750N version) also had no problems. I have an Upsolute chip.

In my opinion the only real difference between programs is price. They all can get surging etc - this is NOT because of the chip brand or program. This is because you have other mods on your car that cause unpredictable results. Its not possible for these companies like APR and Upsolute to test the effects of every single mod on every year of car.

If you leave your car stock then you should expect to get a product that does not surge from any of the companies. If you do something like put a CAI on your car, you are rolling the dice.

                Sorry, my bad.

I thought that with Upsolute you are able to get the chip reprogrammed to adjust for additional mods.

i've been doing some research and after a test drive in peters and some soul searching its gonna be up or revo for me.. right now the revo has some not too shabby deals. its still expensive but you know.. you can get a revo package with the SPS3 unit which has 91,93,100,antitheft,custom timings, etc and a forge 007 DV for 800 US which is a pretty good deal.. cuz its normally (US for all) 500 base revo, 325 SPS3 module, and like 175 for the DV so not to shabby of a deal..
