  • MK2 VR6 question

Wondering if I mount a VR6 into a MK2 without adding the subframe is there a good chance the weight/power will be too much for the frame to handle? Or is the subframe required to even do the install? I'm a mk2 newb and just wondering what I need to check if i'm to look at this.

Just wondering if it's a point of concern if I'm looking at a swapped car. Also wondering what the subframe stuff looks like lol.

BTW, thanks go to triple g for the answers to my previous swap questions.

    Re: MK2 VR6 question

You can kluge it with the MKII subframe. the best thing to do is get the MKIII K-Frame ($250 from Montgomery) and mount all of your MKII accessories to it. This will give you the good mounts on the rear for the VR and will allow you to swap in the "plus" suspension later if you want.

For the front crossmember, you'll want to use the Corrado VR6 crossmember.
