So I went to 5th ave. today (I was near by) to stop in to talk briefly just to find out if they had any special financing going on or anything (I'm seriously considering the new car thing so i've been staying in touch with one of the salesmen). So (not sure if this is true) but he figures, the Mk5 won't show up for at least a year!!:( :donking: So I was a little dissapointed to hear that. On another note, the diesel fans may like to know that they should be getting the PDi in about november maybe a little earlier. He said it's rated at 100hp, 173ft/lbs and better fuel economy. That's decent!! He thinks I should get a PDi but we'll see

As quoted from VWVortex
"The next major peak in TDI development was high-pressure fuel injection called "pumpe duse" in German. By utilizing upwards of 20,000 psi in certain applications, Volkswagen was able to atomized and meter fuel delivery very precisely using a unit-injector developed by Bosch. This resulted in superior economy, further increases in power and even quieter running engines. Power in the 1.9l TDI is now available in europe in 100hp, 130hp and 150hp variations."
We only get the 100hp:(
If I'm wrong on this I know Simon L will correct me
Edit: Here's a link to the whole article, I found this in the "An Introduction and History" section. It's actually really interesting.

actually its 2,000 psi, common rail diesel engines, are those made by everyone else besides vw/audi. they run at 1,600 because they have one pump, as for vw, it has its own pump for each cylinder. the higher the pressure, the louder it runs, but the more efficient it is and more power it makes.2002 VW Golf GT TDI

The PDI should be better overall then the TDI and should continue to be better chipped as well. I was told an October arrival date but that was a while back. I think if you are looking at a desiel you should wait for the 100 PDI unless you get a smoking good deal on a 2003 TDI.
Upsolute numbers:
VW Golf IV 1.9 PD 100/240
100 hp to133 hp
240 NM to 300 NM
VW Golf IV 1.9 TDI 90
90 hp to 116 hp
210 NM to 265 NMBlair
Former Cars: '12 Fiat 500, '10 VW GTI, '05 Smart Fortwo, '96 VW Jetta GLX, '02 VW GTI 337.........

thats what i keep freaking saying. oh well. i'll be buying injectors probably when i get back, after i collect debt money from certain people, that should give me another 20hp and 50torque.
from a tuning point of view, the tdi is a better choice if you buy a chip and injectors for it, because the pdi engine you can chip, but you cant change injectors on it to get the next level which is the 130hp engine, you can to change alot of internals.
but if all you wanted is a chip, pdi engine is a better choice, but to have more power in the end, the ones now are the way to go.2002 VW Golf GT TDI
