  • Well here it is.......

The moment we have all been waiting, for the first official pics of the MKV golf!!!!! The base engine is going to be a 5cyl with 150hp, next a 16v 2.0T with 200hp and then the 3.2V6 with 240hp. The 2 door versions will be more unique from there four door cousins with the design to follow all have fully independent rear suspension too!

The Jetta Vs will be along latter, perhaps a year after the golf and should have the same front end. There is also a hard top convertible planned!!!!

Personally I think it looks good, I like the front end a lot, the lights and the bumper are hot, would look great with a painted valence!!

I like it!! Especially the engine options and the independant rear. Maybe I'll sell the 'rado in the fall and wait for a Mk5. Any word on how much more they might cost? (Price seems to rise a bit every new model change).

Thank you Mr. Knowledge, you have made my day:mrlaugh: :urspecial

No word on price but it looks like they may start appearing early 2004. There is not much mention on the TDIs for North America but there will be a 140hp for europe at launch so we can hope!!

I heard they might have a 3.2L Turbo version with 300bhp. If that is true...... DDDDDDDDDDDAMN! I'd wait a few years until they got rid of some early production bugs.

If they have coilpack problems i'll laugh :mrlaugh:

The engines are awesome. Although the 1.8T has been tried and tested for a long time in a lot of cars... Tough to say if the new engines will be as good. I would wait until the second year until they work out any bugs.

I still like the Mk4 styling better, I guess I need to see these on the road. The downward slope of the hood is weird, kind of like the new civics, matrix, aerio, etc. Once these come out it will be cheaper to get Mk4 parts, you could build a full body kit Mk4 that would look better for less money.

yea i like the new engines and suspension but why no interior shots on those i wonder? i hope the jetta isn't too wierd looking. aslong as VW doesn't go like audi and try to make every car an A6 or in VWs designs a passat i guess.. well they sorta are with the chrome trim on the jettas. .blah i'm babling now haha

HMMMMM I like and I dont like.... Tough decisions.... I might have to trade in once this GTI doesnt fit the bill..... I like the fact that the 2 door will be different than the 4 and if the HID comes standard that will be nice..... Well lots of thinkin to do.... by the looks of it i say 36,000$ full load on these bad boys

I'm glad the MK5 R32 won't come out here for a few years - gives me some time to enjoy my car for a bit.

I'm not really a fan, they are getting too close to all the civics etc

kind of rsx'y, as for diesel options, i know there will be a 2.0L tdi with 140hp, and 160hp. no more 1.9L i dont think. the slowest diesel will be 100hp PD i think. i read this somewhere here in poland. same engines as the new audi a3, and same chasis.
