I lost the security code for my double-din factory radio deck. Put it in the car last night and its asking for that damned 5 digit code. How do I get this back - can I just ask the dealership on the phone?

Re: Question for VW Service/Tech employee?
if it's on file the dealership will have it. i asked them about it once before. i remember reading somewhere that you can get it from the vag-com. but haven't heard too much about it.~Lenny

Re: Question for VW Service/Tech employee?
if its like anywhere else they charge $30 and you need your license and registration and go in in person so as to avoid people stealing cars, calling in the VIN and getting the code.Team Highschool

Re: Question for VW Service/Tech employee?
What, $30?? Back in the day they would do that for free, man no wonder some people get pissed. I bet if you buy Dave a beer he would be able to help you out. I don't think you can read it out via vag-com but things could have changed.Name: Brent

Re: Question for VW Service/Tech employee?
They looked up mine for free at Northland. I had the radio out of the car, brought that and the VIN and Paul looked it up. He said they usually ask for ID with it out of the car.Jeff

Re: Question for VW Service/Tech employee?
MOST decent dealerships will ask for reg. and ID. the $30 is just what they charge cause its how they make $$$. Its BS i know but dont be surprised if they do it.
I would hope for the sake of VW dealership integrity they aren't giving these codes out over the phoneTeam Highschool

that's not bad, i called up glenmore audi and they didn't have it on file and said that it would cost 200 to scan it. i pulled a code using the vag-com, once. haven't tested out this code yet~Lenny
