umm prepare to pull the stupid OEM ducting and swear a ton.. its riveted to the front end of the car so you have to yank so hard and then break it.. other than that use socket extensions for easy removal of the battery tray.. make sure you reinstall yoru MAF the correct way.. umm make sure you filter is on just right and not too far or it wont' work right.. umm 1st timer 2 hours after that 5 minutes..

ie.. my first bumper removal was like 1 1/2 hours 2nd time and 3rd time.. 5 minutes haha msg me if you need help dude. lsc2g@hotmail.com IM me

Yeah don't worry about breaking the ducting around the front driver's side headlight. Theres no other way to get it off. VW uses 10,000 plastic clips everywhere else on the car, but they use rivets there for some reason.

I recommend taking off the bumper too, if you know how.

Alright guys, got the CAI in!! 6 hours later. Install was pretty straight forward but getting behind the bumper is a pain if you don't know how take the damn thing off (I don't so please tell me how for future reference.). The install instructions told me to remove the wheel and fender liner. No prob if I had jack stands. I don't. I don't trust the jack that came with the car and it s bad practise to use it while working on a car anyway. SO I left the wheel on and pulled back the fender liner. Do not do it this way. Installing a filter and tightening the hose clamp with one hand is frustrating as hell. Removing the ducting was easy (rivets intact). All you have to do is push in the rivet centres with a centre punch or something similar. Then the whole thing just pops off. The AEM system is completely bolt on. No extra cutting or breaking stuff.

Finished around 2 am (just like you Peter). I will see how it performs today.

K, so I've been running around with the CAI for a couple of days now and its starting to grow on me. I liked it at first then it started to annoy me, now I think I'm getting used to it. I usually like silent power, but I think this is a good thing. I definately notice better throttle response and I think maybe my ass dyno has lost its calibration from driving this thing around, but I think there is just slightly more noticeable power. I think I better get in my wife's rented Echo just to recalibrate.
