You can buy a new GLI for that price. Maybe they think since TDI's aren't sold this year that they are rare or something.

              Re: overpriced tdi's

The last post is right . An object is only worth what someone will pay for it. During the last 4 weeks I have purchased 4 Jetta TDIs. All I sold in under a day of buying them. None of them were more then half the price of the one listed. I make $500-$2000 commision on them and find a fast turn around is the way to go. I bought one yesterday.....04 TDI wagon fully loaded. Paid $16500 for it. Only 40K. This is to give you all an example of what the car is WORTH not what the dealers want you to believe. An 02 GLS TDI last week with 120K perfect interior and 85% exterior I bought for $12 flipped it for $14 within 24 hours.

Where do you typically buy these vehicles? Auctions, private sales, dealers? (combo of all three?)

                    Re: overpriced tdi's

For the last couple years I have been searching private sales. I grew up with my father doing the same thing for extra $$$. He is very good at it. I learnt from him. I consider myself a rookie at best. He has the patients it takes to get the price lower. I am not so patient and walk away from many deals only seperated by a few hundred.
I have recently been opened up to the auctions. This has reconfirmed my theory of vehicle pricing.
