so a customer of mine has a 2005 gli and his 2nd gear syncro is shot takes it 5th ave today and they say because it has an intake and a downpipe they dont think it will be coverd
now a maf sensor or cat i can undrstand but the trans ...? they would have to prove the intake was a direct result of the failure
im pretty sure the 6spd can handle an extra 10 hp produced buy both of them . its just a failure .. i never did any such thing when i was working on these cars wtf

That is gay. An intake and downpipe have nothing to do with the transmission. They are simply looking for excusses to avoid fixing it. Im hearing more and more stories about trannies going on MK4's (especailly the 2nd gear).

Fact: If you mod your car, the dealership will try as hard as they can to make that excuse stick rather than covering your problem under warranty.

I think the reason is because people are still getting screwed. It shouldn't be a crap shoot for such things. Not to beat on dealerships but hearing about such things doesn't bode well for anyone.

The transmission should be covered regardless. Although it is possible to destroy a syncro on 1 single hard shift.
