what would this $700 be spent on, and do u mean spending 700 for both or just making 700 worth of upgrades on the vr6?

      Stupid argument but...

Drove a coworker's '06 C230 today and the engine sounded frigging amazing. Acceleration absolutely felt great but the sound was better than any VW I have been in lately. Really felt great.

Good fit and finish inside but a little old-manish. Basically on par with the new Jetta fit and finish imo. Some things a little worse, some things a little better.

No room in the back seats.

the mk3 only came with the 12v VR6, while the MK4 had a 12v and 24v option. The 12V produces slightly less power than the 24V, 173hp vs 190hp, and the 24V came with the 6 speed I believe exclusivly (someone correct me on this).

Mods wise however the 12V is significantly cheaper to modify as there is not as much selection for the 24v. It has also been noted that while the 24v breathes better NA, if you are going turbo the 12v is just the better way to go. The 6 speed is also an issue with the turbo applications just due to not being able to stay in gear long enough under boost. A wander over to dubberz.com and a word with **OZ** one of the mods who owns a HPA 24V turbo up for sale can answer any questions you have regarding heavy modifications to the engine.
        thanks for the info.
I obviously realized that it meant the number of valves.
Lots of useful info, though. thanks man

It might be cheaper to mod a 12v (I'm sure it is) but you have to mod PAST the 200hp first which won't be cheap (won't do it with an exhaust and intake).

            $700 = 150hp nitrous kit. 14.0@104mph. Faster then any 1.8T in AB.

The only problem with that high of a shot of nitrous is reliability and longevity would surely suffer, although it would be fun James.

Are you high? I love my VR6 but claiming that your quarter mile time bests every 1.8T in Alberta is ignorant. I definitely know there are a few 1.8T's running faster than that!

My 1/4 mile time does beat every 1.8T in AB, make that Canada
Ignorant is not the word you're looking for, I can tell you what all the fast cars in AB run not just in the VW world. Show me one single 1.8T running faster than 14.0 in AB. The ONLY 1.8T to run fast thus far in AB was Cam's car from Sask. which was not an AB car.

It's not about "MY" 1/4 mile time. It's about a vr6 with 150hp nitrous kit. Adding 150hp to ANY engine is going to affect longevity, and reliability. You can't nearly double the hp of an engine and expect it to guarantee the same life as a stock engine regardless of how the power was obtained. So yes, $700 + vr6 (12v or 24v) = faster then ANY 1.8T in AB. When a 1.8T actually runs faster then 14.0 in AB, it will have cost a LOT more then $700 to do so.

I'm pretty sure Dom is in the 13's but I'm sure someone with concrete info will back up what I'm saying!
