    Re: MK3 GTI vr6?

My rear hatch was ~$400 to have it fixed up and repainted. That's not including the price to remove and reinstal the glass (if there's rust along the bottom of the window you will probably have to get the window removed to make sure they got it all).

Suspension: Cupkit will probably set you back 600-800 plus install.

I have no idea what the chains cost to replace, maybe 6-800? Someone else will know better.

Well, I am thinking at least 500 to fix the hatch, but probably a bit more. I am not sure what cup kits are going for nowadays, because the only thing I have bought are coilovers. If you want full height and dampening capabilities, you are looking at over 1500 bucks. I would also get new plugs, wires, timing chain kit w/guides, and there are probably some seals that need to be done (rear main seal ect.) Also check things like tranny fluid, may need new brakes.
In the end, once its running mint, it is such a fun car. I personally dont have one, but I have a corrado vr6 and a cabrio vr6t. Close enough huh?
ps. put away about 5-6 grand for forced induction

about the 1500$ coils i dont think he needs top end stuff and unless u feel like going to c1 to get ripped off just pick up some weitecs or patecs for 6-800

Yeah i was just looking on ecs for example and a decent h&r touring cup kit is 599 which isent to bad i guess. The only think that has me worried is the amount of km on the car. IM worried i will run into lots of problems or it wont last me?

I got my Patec coilovers for $850 shipped, I'd say the extra $250 is worth it for the height adjustability...
I'd like to make a statment!

If I remember right from when I did timing chains on my Corrado, I think it was around $1500 including the guides.

                      Re: MK3 GTI vr6?

Search the user name "Trixx" on Vortex. He has VR6 GTI that he is contemplating selling. Its got 350000km's on it and still running strong. As a bunch of the other guys on here have said, its a bullit proof motor as long as its been maintained through out its life. I had H&R cupkit on my old GTI and I loved it. Mitch is right about the adjustablity of coils but I drove my Old GTI in the winter lowered 60/40 and never had any problems!

I also would have to agree with Dayle about the VR being the nicest VW motor. It just sounds so damn good!!!

IS that from a dealership? or is there cheaper places to get it done?

Thanks for the help guys, i will look into this car for sure.

I was looking at that one with 380,000kms or something. Nice car but that is a LOT of km's for the price.

It does go to show that it's reliable though.

The owner has done the timing chain and serpantnt belt. IM guessing those are the 2 important ones?
