Need some car selling related advice please.

Ok, this isn't a forsale post. Just need some advice

Well lately I have seriously been considering selling my vehicle in order to fund a down payment on a home. The girlfriend and I are sick of living in an apartment.

I've driven this MK4 for close to 8 years now and the car is a little bit of a money pit. I've probably put in close to $15000 worth of repairs and mods since the car was purchased new.

What I'm wondering is if it would make much sense to sell the MK4, downgrade to a MK2, or possibly something a little cheaper to maintain (gasp).

Also, if I was to sell my vehicle, what is a fair asking price in your guys opinion?

I was thinking around $11,000.

Let me give you a little backround on the car.

- Purchased new in 2000 from Southgate.
- Auto, 12V VR6 GLS
- 125XXX kms
- 8 years worth of reciepts(sp?)

I would be selling the car with the mods, as I don't have some of the parts to bring it back to stock. (Mainly just the joeymodded lights, and suspension)

I would do it if I were you. I did the same thing a couple years ago. I had a very modded car that I had to sell to get approved for a mortgage. I got 17 grand for it and ended up buying a $1400 Nissan Stanza that I drove for about 8 months after I got my house.

Once you get your place you can look at getting another car. It was funny they wouldn't let me keep my car before I got the mortgage but once I did I got approved for a brand new WRX :|
