  • Cold Air suggestions for MK4 2.0L Golf.

I've had my Golf for a little over a week now, it's settled in nicely but it's time to start a project! Intake anyone?

I can't afford to get my intake and exhaust at the same time so it's an obvious choice for me to get this first.

Budget? Umm, only looking to spend around $300. I went into a detail shop the other day to ask a few questions and one of the reps was telling me about an AEM system made exclusively for Golf's. Unfortunately it was $400 and that's more than what I'm looking for.

I'm not worried about maitnence cost, I'm going to be installing it with a few buddies, one who works in a shop so not too worried, unless the same problem arises which my brother's mechanic faced when dealing with installation and it not fitting properly -- leading to having to shave down the headlight housing or something? Please don't quote me on that.

Plus trying to install it myself will give me a chance to learn my car. If worse comes to worse and it won't work then I'll worry about hiring someone.

So the main question is, I need help in choosing the right system for my Golf. I'm looking for something around $300, a really nice puuur to it, hopefully gain a decent number from it, and where should I go about buying it from?

    Suggestions? Help? Cheers!

Was always happy with the Neuspeed stuff I bought.

On the 1.8T I swear this is one of the best CAI's you'll find (I had one).

Another one I looked at is the Injen.

I have an Injen cold air on its way for my 2.0L. Getting a deal on it from a distributor buddy. He says he will sell em for $325. Send me a PM and I will get you his email.

don't even bother with that on a 2.0. just get a hi-flow air filter like K&N.
