    Re: where are these people.

you guys are rite dave has to eat as well as his family,my only concern is
1.10 hours is what i was charged so they could tell me it was a fuse.
why would the service advisor not call me or say bring in your charger and lets take a look at it to make sure it's not faulty.this is the biggest problem
that i find is no one speaks to no one.hey Dave i never intended to say you
or the other techs are at fault, but you have to admit that was a crazy bill.
i do blame the service advisors thou..............and the lack of managers.

      Re: where are these people.

I don't know if it was warranted to charge you that HOWEVER, I don't know what the tech did to your car. If there was a propper story in your work order than you should have known what you paid for. It also says on the wall when you come in, quote "There is a one hour minimum charge for diagnostics" If they didn't call you they may have overcharged by a couple bucks. All I know is that I hate people flaming dealerships.

        Re: where are these people.

Ya know, this is quite an interesting thread to just sit back and "digest".

On one side, we've got an upset car owner who, for whatever reason, took a problem to the dealership and isn't happy with the fact that the problem was a fuse and he was charge "a lot" for the diagnosis and fix.

On the other side, we've got people who work in a dealership, or have had good experiences and are defending the practices of not only the techs at the dealership, but the practices of techs in general.

What I'm not seeing is any talk of the importance of forming a relationship with your service tech. I've had a couple of VW's over the years and have experience my share of issues. Some solved under warranty, and some that were "unique" in nature and required patience and some serious troubleshooting to solve. What I've learned over time is that if I, the customer, work WITH the service tech, considering both time, effort, their frustration with not being able to do an "easy fix" every time, that everything goes more smoothly.

I haven't always been comfortable working on my own car (other than simple stuff that I can't screw up), and I rely on either the dealership (now, George) to help me out when things go wrong. By taking the time to talk to them, rather than making demands for service and a deal, more often than not, I get great service....and sometimes a deal.

Just because someone is paying for a service, doesn't mean you have the right to "demand" anything.

        There's my $0.02.....

            2 Cent Time Is Right...

You Know It's Super Annoying When A Customer Comes In With A Problem And Is So Lazy That He Doesn't Even Try To Answer Some Of Our Simple Questions So That We Can Narrow Down A Concern, Let Alone Grab Milage, Like Seriously, How Hard Is It To Get Milages? And How Are We As A Dealer Supposed To Help Assist A Customer Effectively If They Cannot Even Answer Simple Things, You Know, The Basic, When, Where, How, Yada. If A Customer Cannot Gives Us Proper Info As To Whats Happening With Thier Car How Are We Supposed To Help. There Needs To Be A Relationship Between The Advisor (myself) And The Customer. And Whether You Like It Or Not, Here's The Deal... Any Where You Go There's A Minimum Charge! Grrr....

It's not, I guess that's why the dealership I go to has never even asked me for it, they get it when it comes into the bay as part of the service j/k

But then again, I don't go to a VW dealership.

Apart from 1 incident, I'm really happy with the service I've received at Valentine. Advisors are good to deal with and will freely admit if they can't find an issue but don't try to blame it on me. I've had issues with a squeeky seat and weatherstripping which they took care of right away. I actually really feel like they try to work WITH me to help solve OUR problem, not FOR me to try and resolve MY problem.

I guess this is kind of off topic but felt I should put a plug in for a good dealership and good people.

Honestly I think in this thread there are people overreacting on both sides. As long as people are overreacting they won't be able to hear the constructive feedback from either side.

              I guess that's my 2 cents.

Seriously, I Just Wish That Some People Would Realize That We As Advisors Are Here To Help Customers Not Take Advantage Of Them, If A Customer Could Honestly And Openly Give Me Some Feed Back As To How I Could Personally Help Them Better I Would Accept It Without Even A Hint Of Disapointment. The Term "stealership" Really Irks Me.

                  Re: where are these people.

for me it's always a pain cause i'm used to the small town mechanic that will fiddle on the spot, no appointment, and give you an opinion right away with out booking in for a diagnostic session (at least for little stuff). the first advisor i had here at NLVW was really good though. He had a good knowledge of the cars, and could offer some insight prior to booking the car in. The guys of dealt with lately have just ignored everything i say or ask and respond with 'when can I book it in'. Again, this is dependent on communication, but i try to do my best to speed up the process. Sometimes the advisors really seem to have no knowledge of cars, they are just a receptionist for the mechanic. If I call and say "my lighter plug is dead", I would expect the response to be "check the fuses, and call me back", not "when can I book it in".

Not trying to trash anyone, and for the VW staff posting here... well that in it self says your among the good guys.
